The AAS-in-Asia conference and call for proposals DOES NOT post pre-arranged topics to which individual paper authors submit abstracts for consideration.
Your proposal must be in the format of a fully formed organized panel session (panels presenting 3-5 papers) or a roundtable (discussion) session.
We do not accept Individual Paper abstract proposals. Individual Paper abstract proposals submitted using the organized panel or roundtable proposal application will be automatically withdrawn and not reviewed.

Note: Some organizers may need additional paper authors to complete their organized panel proposals. Individual paper authors may post interest to join a session and post a paper topics by posting the Session Organizers seeking Participants FORUM.
Organized panels
Pre-organized Session with three to five paper presentations with a session chair and/or discussant to facilitate a discussion of the papers presented.
These sessions are submitted as pre-organized sessions which already include the names of the paper presenters, chair and discussant.
The abstracts provided for each prospective paper presentation are very important, but the overall panel abstract is of greatest importance.

Requirements
- This proposal type and session consists of formal paper presenters (3-5 papers maximum) within a 15-20 minute presentation, a chair and a moderator (discussant).
- Organized panel proposal should include an 250-word (max) abstract and abstract for each paper presentation. Each paper abstract should be no more than 250 word.
- The exact configuration of paper presenters and discussants is left to your discretion. See the Innovative Format section for more information. It is the preference of the Program Committee to receive proposals that comply with posted participation limits and still allow a reasonable amount of time for discussion.
Roles
- Session Organizer: This session proposal type is submitted by the session organizer as a fully organized session complete with all paper presentation abstracts, a selected chair and discussant.
- Session Chair: The session chair briefly introduces the panelists, ensures panelists keep to their alloted presentation time, and moderates the Q and A when needed. Ensuring equal time for all presenters is essential, and chairs must be prepared to end a presentation that will clearly exceed the alloted time by several minutes. All organized panel session proposals should include a chair role.
Paper Presenters: Organized panels should include a minimum of three (3) papers presentation and a maximum of five (5) paper presentations. Each paper presenter will have approximately 15-20 minutes to present a paper. - Discussant: The role of the discussant is to facilitate a discussion among the panelists and session attendees.
Two-Part Sessions
- Organizers may submit “two-part” or “back-to-back” panel proposals on related themes or topics but each proposal will be reviewed on its own merits.
- Organizers may indicate the submission by including Part 1, or Part II within the title.
- The Program Committee cannot guarantee acceptance of a series of panels, nor can it guarantee specific scheduling requests for accepted “two-part” or “back-to-back” panels.
Roundtables
- A Roundtable is a session format at which no formal papers are presented. This format provides opportunities for participants with specific expertise to discuss with each other, and with members of the audience, issues or themes concerning a discipline or an Asian regional area.
- These sessions are submitted as pre-organized sessions, including the chair’s names and discussant.
Requirements
All roundtable submission should include an abstract with a maximum of 350 words. This session type consists of a chair and 4-5 panelists that serve as a discussants.

Individual papers
The AAS-in-Asia conference does not accept Individual Paper proposals submissions. All submission must be in the form of a fully organized session as listed above.
