Gamelan is a traditional musical ensemble from Indonesia, predominantly found on the islands of Java and Bali. It primarily consists of various percussion instruments and features unique musical scales in the tuning systems of slendro (pentatonic) and pelog (heptatonic). Gamelan plays an integral role in Indonesian cultural and ceremonial events, often accompanying traditional dances, wayang (shadow puppet) performances, and rituals.
In this workshop, you will learn about gamelan in depth and have a chance to try it.
